It is possible to develop an addiction
People who consume a lot of caffeine on a regular basis become addicted to it. It’s not the same as addiction to illegal substances, but it’s there nonetheless. For example, a tolerance to caffeine develops. This means that in order to feel the effect, you need to constantly increase the dose. And if you stop abruptly, you’ll experience withdrawal symptoms such as:
headaches;
unexplained fatigue;
difficulty concentrating;
nausea;
muscle aches;
irritability.
A transient ischaemic attack or stroke may occur
Some young people experience terrible headaches after taking stimulants. This is called a transient, or transient, ischaemic attack. A vessel in the head spasms for a short time and then should relax. If blood flow stops for a long time or, on the contrary, the vessel ruptures and haemorrhages occur, a stroke develops. Some people get it from abuse and some people literally have it the first time.
There could be liver problems
Scientists have described several cases of acute liver damage due to energy drinks. It’s not yet clear why some are more susceptible and some less so, but they’d rather not find out
